Many believers spend a lot of time fighting the devil. We as believers need to be clear about the fact that the devil has already been defeated at the moment Jesus hung on the cross and said: “it is finished”, when He went to the grave, rose again and now is seated at the right hand of the Father. Our battle now is not fighting the devil but knowing how to handle it when the devil whispers lies into our ears that are not according to the Kingdom of Heaven that we belong to and represent.
For example, if you have an important meeting coming up, the devil may whisper: “that meeting is not going to go well, you’re not good enough, remember you’ve never done that before, so why do you think it’s going to work for you?”
Now you think it’s your job to fight the devil on this. But, when will we believe and stand in the truth that the devil is already behind us and under our feet? When will we understand the reality of what God says about us and our relationship with Him? When will we begin to live from the truth of who we are in Christ knowing that all we have to do is to focus on the truth about what God says about us?
All we have to do is to focus on what God says is true about who we are, what we have and what we can do. We need to begin to live up to what God says instead of believing what the devil says about us. We need to stop wasting time fighting a devil that has already been defeated.
So here is what I want you to do: When the devil tells you lies, please turn your heart to your Heavenly Father and thankfully begin to declare the opposite of what the devil is trying to get you to believe. In the example that we are using here, you say: “Father, I thank you that You have provided a way for me and that everything I put my hand to will go well. I thank you that you have provided a way for me to be successful in all that I do because I believe in You. I thank You that everything will work out for my good because I love You and I am called according to your purpose, I thank You for Your goodness and for opening the way for me to see myself prosper in You. Thank you that I will see things go according to the way that You have purposed for me.
And that is the way that you defeat the devil when he comes to you with his lies, because when you are in Christ what is true for you as a believer is all that God has said about you in the Word. So stand and begin to declare in thankfulness all that God says to be true about you and you will see yourself become stronger, and see things turn around for you.
What do you think will happen when the devil notices that the more he whispers negative words into your ear, the more it makes you run into the arms of your Heavenly Father and spend time with Him? In stead of getting you to turn away from God and fight the devil, what the devil is accomplishing is that you are drawing closer and closer to you Heavenly Father and becoming more sure of the person you are called to be in Him.
This is what the Word of God means when it says: Submit to God, and resist the devil and he will flee from you. So yes, once you begin doing this in your life, in the name of Jesus. you are truly eliminating the biggest time waster of all from your life.
