Tips For Using Your Time More Effectively

We are all leading very busy lives with our kids, work and all kinds of other things that are fighting to gain priority in our life. Being busy is making many of us forfeit the time that we can spend with God. We let go of this personal time sitting at the feet of Jesus and choose to do other things that we consider to be more pressing and more important. This is sad, because it is at His feet and in His presence that we receive inspiration and get help to prioritize our day in the most effective way. We waste much time and I would like to give you some tips to help you eliminate time wasters in your day.

What is often the first thing we do as soon as we wake up in the morning? Do we send praises up to God thanking Him for our day? Do we spend time reading His word and gaining direction for our day? Or do we turn on our iphone or ipad and immediately allow our friends’ problems and situations to bombard our mind as soon as we wake up in the morning.

This is the way you waste time because you allow everything that every other person considers important to come into your life before even taking the time to establish for yourself what your day is going to look like. You are wasting time as you begin answering questions and reacting to their comments and situation and your mood will be shifted into the situation that others have thrown at you in the early morning hours. What a hectic way to begin your day…!

So tip #1:
When you wake up in the morning leave the iphone and ipad/tablet off and leave the situations of your friends and family where they are. Do not allow them to come into your day and determine your mood for the day. Take time to get into a quiet place in your home and talk to your Father about the things you are planning or expecting to do that day. Begin the day in the peace of the Lord sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening for His direction and gaining from Him the peace which you will take into your day with you.

Here’s tip #2.
When you are driving in traffic or doing sports make sure you have an ipod or MP3 with you where you can listen to some worship music or a sermon. Do not allow the idle moments in your day to remain empty. For this will allow you to start worrying or thinking negative thoughts. Rather, create situations where you can feed yourself with the Word of the Kingdom of Heaven so that your ‘Kingdom life tank’ can remain filled and connected to the Kingdom of Heaven to which you belong. Be sure that your spirit remains lifted and your perspective remains in the right direction. The direction of the Kingdom of Heaven!

Let us decide this week to begin letting go of our phone and ipad/tablet addictions for it is making us waste time and perverting the way we begin our day. Also let us make it a habit to not allow idle moments to fill our day.

This coming week, I want to challenge you to start spending time at the feet of your Master when you wake up in the morning and to begin carrying along with you some good worship music or a sermon in your car or during your moments of doing sports.

I would love to hear what a difference this will make in your day!
