About Being “Realistic”

Today I want to talk to you about ‘being realistic’. I was talking to a person today who was very busy developing many new and good things in his life. Yet, he was worrying about: ‘How will I get all this done?’ The excitement and the buzz on the one hand and the feeling of: ‘Oh my gosh, how am I going to get all these things to come to pass/ How will I have it all ready on time?’ on the other hand, made him feel overwhelmed by it all! And what he actually ended up saying was: But, you know, I need to be realistic! I mean, I AM busy with many things right now and I DO have a lot to arrange in a short time, so it’s normal that I feel overwhelmed, right?’ My answer is: NO!

And this got me thinking: The feeling of overwhelm…, does that feeling belong to the Kingdom of Heaven or does it belong to the kingdom of this world? Answer: it belongs to the kingdom of this world. And that worldly kingdom has tought me to accept the feeling of ‘being overwhelmed and bogged down’ as normal, when it is COMPLETELY abnormal according to the Kingdom of Heaven. What IS normal in the Kingdom of Heaven is the feeling of peace. The kind of peace that passeth all understanding. THIS is the feeling that the believer should consider ‘normal’. Not the peace that’s only there when everything is going well! That’s easy, that’s worldly! The peace of the Kingdom of Heaven is different in that it remains a stable anchor even though everything around is turmouil and chaos, busyness and stress… It’s a peace that lasts and is not dependent on positive circumstances to function. So, my question to you today is: which Kingdom do you represent? Is it the Kingdom that considers having chaos and turmoil a normal way of life, or is it the one that says: peace, be still! Think about that and consider your words and thoughts this day. Chose to be ‘realistic The Kingdom Way’.
